.biz is a generic top-level domain that IANA classes as restricted. IANA lists Registry Services, LLC as its sponsoring organization, with GoDaddy Registry as administrative and technical contact, and gives June 26, 2001 as its registration date in the Root Zone Database.
GoDaddy Registry states that anyone can register a .biz name, from any country, on a first-come, first-served basis. Its registration policy requires a name and its use to be consistent with the mission and purpose of the TLD. The 2013 ICANN agreement limited .biz names to bona fide business or commercial use; the agreement that replaced it on June 30, 2019 contains no such clause. The registry may reserve names, and registration terms run in one-year steps up to 10 years.
